Trying Something New

wordleSomething that I find fascinating is when you come across someone who has never used essential oils and you get them to try them for what ever ailment they are using them for, and they put them on and within say….2 mins and they turn to you and say “it’s not working!” I can not help but laugh out loud. I mean, first of all, they need a bit more time to work. Secondly, you just know they are expecting a miracle. And third, we know that the “stuff” they have been

using from the local pharmacy hasn’t been working very well or they wouldn’t be seeking a conversation with you about your oils. And I know, although the items they are currently using are not giving them the results they hope for, they will continue to try new products (that may be harmful) till they either give up or find something that works. However, they will not give essentials oils another thought.

It is interesting how we are so programmed to believe in one thing. I too doubted essential oils, but I did give them a try. Since I was in pain, my first experience wasn’t a miracle. I tried a second day and then a third, and all of a sudden I realized I could move my neck and I wasn’t in as much pain anymore. Yes, it took 3 days of using the products to get results, however I had been using muscle relaxer and pain meds (naproxen) for over a year and depended on those drugs

for at least 15 days a month for relief. I have been muscle relaxer and naproxen free for 11 months now. And what I have found out is I don’t require the use of my essential oils daily. I use them about once a week and I have mobility in my neck and little to NO pain most days.

Essential Oils are GOD’S medicine. He put them here for us. I am not sayi

ng that you should never take a prescribed drug, on the contrary. Pharmaceuticals were developed by very smart people to assist with some deadly diseases that we face today. The problem with pharmaceuticals is over the years, big companies have gotten greedy and wanted higher profits and therefore have cut corners with their products which puts YOU at risk. Don’t take MY word for it. Become an informed consumer. There are alternatives for almost every medicine (including some essential oils) that are better for your health overall. Do your homework and quite taking the word of doctors and pharmacies
that MAY have a hidden agenda when it comes to meds you need.

A different Site

I have been using a hosted site for my blog. I have noticed that I don’t have many following me with the new hosted site. Advertising states that I could really build my audience with a hosted site. I am not getting it! I had many with this blog. So my question is, Do you know about my other blog? Could you visit me at  and sign up to get notifications from me when I post a new blog? I’d love to have you join me.  I can offer so much MORE with my hosted site than I can with this particular site. Please join me…

Happy Mother’s Day

As I sit her and ponder this day we honor our mothers, it is bitter sweet for me. You see, my mother passed away in 2004. I miss her so very much. We were very close. After I married, I remember the first really big fight I had with my husband. It was over our phone bill. 30 years ago, $100 phone was a really big deal. But, I lived 5 hours away from my mom and I wanted to talk to her, I would call her 3 times a day if needed. Sometimes just to ask her about an ingredient for a recipe.

My older siblings always teased me that I was mom’s favorite (I am the youngest) but in truth, mom loved each of her children and enjoyed all of them. I did have a special relationship with mom and it showed. We had no secrets, that’s for sure. We could talk for hours, and usually did. I remember visiting her when she was alive. She never stayed up very late, but those weekends, we’d stay up in the kitchen talking till 1 am sometimes even later. She wanted all the details. What was I doing? How was my job, etc. etc.?

You only get one mom. Cherish her. Even though you may disagree, remember that no one will ever love you like your mom. For most of us, it is completely unconditional! Moms are not always right, but they certainly try for us. If heaven was only a phone call, I’d certainly pay that phone bill, for the chance to talk to mom.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you out there! Blessings!mother'sday

So I do dabble in Pinterest. I LOVE the recipes. Have found some great ideas for crafts, and curriculum for our homeschooling adventure. This past weekend, I made the most amazing potatoes. Easy, and the ingredients are things I always have on hand. The recipe:

  • 6 small potatoes, scrubbed and cut in half
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • grated parmesan cheese
  • garlic powder
  • other seasonings (to personal preference)

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Melt butter and pour into a 9×13 inch pan and spread evenly across the bottom.  Generously sprinkle parmesan cheese and lightly sprinkle other seasonings all over the butter.  Place potato halves face down on the butter and seasonings.  Place in preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes.  Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan.  Serve on a plate with a side of sour cream for dipping.

WOW! Even my husband (who doesn’t always like it when I try something new) said they were great. Are you ready for the picture? This one is from pinterest and the website responsible for this deliciousness is

And to make matters even BETTER my dear friend and fellow blogger, Jennifer Steele of the “Our Homeschool Learning Curve” (you can visit her site here: has introduced me to Once a month cooking! Now, I’m not preparing everything way ahead of time. But she inspired me to make a few things in bulk, cooking only one day. For instance, I have a picky 6 yr. old. But she loves pizza. We made 12 bagel pizzas, fully cooked and then froze them. Now when my little one wants a pizza, I feel confident that the one she gets is wholesome, and made with the best ingredients without preservatives! My little got to help make them too, which she thought was super fun! We also made 8 breakfast burritos with sausage, egg & cheese. These will reheat in the microwave lickity split and provide wholesome nutrition for our family.

I’m moving out of my comfort zone. How about you? Blessings!

Essential oils all the way!

So my daughter has a nasty wart on the palm of her hand. It really bothers her. Of course, she is the princess and the pea. Even the most miniscule change to her body and she KNOWS it. Anyway, I researched natural alternatives to wart removal. She’s only 6 and most of the solutions via a doctor are just too aggressive. So, the natural route we will take.

I read that lavender, tea tree, lemon, and eucalyptus are great solutions to modern medicines. So, I have concocted my own solution. In a vial, I mixed, all four of the above oils and also added just a drop of almond oil. For the essential oils, I probably added 3 drops each. I am applying 1 drop twice a day. We started last Tuesday and we already see a difference. The wart is drying up. I figure in another week or two, she will be able to scratch off the scab. This is so much better than any other remedy. She isn’t afraid of it, it smells good and it won’t harm her skin.

My oldest daughter had a wart on her elbow and I purchased the over the counter wart removal stuff. I nearly burned her elbow. I used too much and didn’t just apply it to her wart. She was hurting for a few days. At least with the essential oils, I don’t have to worry about harming my daughter!

I really am glad that I found essential oils last summer. They now are a regular part of our daily lives. And by the way, are you looking for a way to earn a bit of extra money? Consider SwissJust.
